Why write about photography?
I am a storyteller. Mostly I use the lens, but sometimes I choose to narrate directly, in words. I believe words matter a great deal. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. However, every once in a while, it takes a thousand words to really explain the heart of a picture, a moment, or an experience.
I believe I have a lot of words to get out of my system. If you know me personally, this is such an understatement. However, I do not employ the use of words to simply reach a daily quota. If I choose to write about a particular topic, it likely has been something I have been trying to communicate as much to myself as anyone. A story that has so piqued my interest or concern that I can't help but organize the thoughts into lines of text.
That said, this storytelling isn't for me. It's for you, a friend or stranger, my welcome guest, to invite you into the story. To intentionally engage you by observing unexpected & spontaneous moments through photos and the written word, purposefully mining out that which is beautiful, unique, holy, and gilded with hope
